DevOps engineer specializing in Linux, Kubernetes, platform engineering, infrastructure automation, high availability, distributed systems, and observability.

I’m Mehdi Hasanzadeh Samadi—usually Farokh—a DevOps engineer based in Tehran. I build reliable, scalable, and automated infrastructure, with a focus on Kubernetes, Linux, cloud-native platforms, and distributed systems.

My background began close to the operating system: Linux administration, networking, storage, virtualization, and practical troubleshooting. That foundation still shapes how I approach modern platforms—I want to understand what is happening below the abstraction, not only how to operate the abstraction itself.

My work spans container orchestration, high-availability services, networking, storage, databases, CI/CD, and observability. I enjoy turning complex operational requirements into systems that are resilient, visible, and straightforward to operate.

Asiatech — DevOps Engineer

April 2023 – August 2025 · Tehran

  • Designed and operated highly available Kubernetes clusters for multiple applications
  • Managed replicated and performance-tuned PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and Redis clusters
  • Architected Kafka clusters for resilient, high-throughput event streaming

Maintained Linux systems and data-center infrastructure, including storage, access control, backups, security updates, migrations, monitoring, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.

Earlier in my career, I worked as an analyst at Banasho, developing startup business plans, improving data-collection processes, and producing operational reports.

Systems foundation

Linux is the center of my systems background. I work across compute, networking, storage, and virtualized environments, with an emphasis on understanding failure modes and making operational procedures explicit.

Automation and infrastructure as code

I use Bash, Python, and Golang to remove repetitive work and build operational tooling. Ansible and Terraform turn system configuration and infrastructure provisioning into reviewable, repeatable processes.

Containers, data platforms, and delivery

My platform work spans containers, Docker, containerd, Kubernetes, and Helm, together with the CI/CD systems that move changes safely toward production. I also operate stateful platforms including PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Redis, Kafka, MinIO, GlusterFS, and ZFS, with attention to replication, failover, performance, and recovery.

Operating with feedback

Reliable systems need useful signals. I use Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Sentry, and Zabbix to make behavior visible through metrics, logs, dashboards, and alerts—shortening diagnosis and improving platforms using what production teaches us.

Education and languages

I hold a Bachelor of Architecture in Architectural Engineering from Islamic Azad University. That design background complements my infrastructure work: both require systems thinking, careful constraints, and plans that remain sound under real-world pressure.

I speak Persian natively and use English professionally.

How I approach systems

  • Automate repetitive work without hiding important decisions
  • Prefer observable systems over operational guesswork
  • Make dangerous procedures explicit, validated, and reversible
  • Treat networking, storage, and operating-system behavior as part of the platform
  • Keep infrastructure understandable as it grows
  • Share tools and lessons that can save someone else time

One example is my interactive Bash utility for safer Kubernetes node upgrades. It detects node roles, guides component selection, validates requested versions, and handles the differing needs of worker and control-plane nodes.
